PARKROSE COLTS YOUTH FOOTBALL PROGRAM
MAKES HISTORY IN 2010

November 13, 2010 Parkrose Colts 5/6th graders became the P.A.L. City Champions, beating Reynolds 12-6 in triple overtime.  This is the first time in 24 years that the 5/6th grade has won a championship. In 2008 the 3/4th Colts won their first championship for the program with many of the same players/coaches in 2010.  13 of these 22 young men now have 2 city championships under their belts.

It was a tough start for the Colts this year, losing their first game to Alberta Park (19-14), and losing again to Reynolds (16-14) in week 4. That didn't stop them from earning the #4 seed in the playoffs.   In the first round they faced #5 Grant (2009 Champs) and came away with an 8-0 victory. The next playoff game was against the undefeated #1 Alberta Park Panthers.  The Colts rose above Alberta Park 24-14. It was a great at home win for the Colts! After that win they were off to the Championship.

Reynolds was the #2 seed and probably the toughest team they faced. The Colts scored in the 1st quarter and missed the extra point. Holding the 6-0 lead through the 4th quarter, the Colts met adversity with the force of a linebacker and stopped Reynolds from scoring up until the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter. Reynolds tied the game and missed a clutch P.A.T. that sent the game into overtime. From there it was a defensive standoff up until Reynolds missed a field goal kick. Finally, the colts were able to run the ball past the goal line in the very cold, wet and drawn out game.

The 2010 Colts finished the season with an 8-2 record. Averaging 21 points scored per game. The Defense only gave up an average of 5.5 points per game. All in all, it was a very successful season that the Parkrose community will be proud of for years to come.
